Description:
Trimethoprim is an antibacterial agent with a bacteriostatic activity against many gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Sulfamonomethoxine is a sulfonamide antibiotic with bacteriostatic activity and parasites. The combination (‘potentiated sulphas’) is bactericidal against a wide variety of gram-positive and gram- negative bacteria as trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole work synergistically.
Indications:
Infections in cattle, swine, sheep, goats and horses caused by microorganisms susceptible to the combined effects of trimethoprim and Sulfamonomethoxine, such as acute or chronic enteritis caused by Salmonella choleraesuis and some other Salmonella spp.; post-weaning diarrhoea caused by K88-positive, K99-positive or 987P Escherichia coli-strains; secondary bacterial infections with Pasteurella multocida, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Streptococcus spp and Haemophilus parasuis and coccidiosis during the course of viral disease.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
For intramuscular (cattle, swine, sheep, goats) or slow intravenous (cattle, horse) administration.
Recommended dose: 1 ml per 10 kg body weight per day for up to 5 days.
Poultry: inject subcutaneously into the neck or intramuscularly at a dose of 1ml per 5 kg of body weight per day for up to 3 days.
To avoid under dosing the body weight should be determined with accurancy.
Contraindications:
– Do not use for animals sensitive to the ingredients of the drug.
– Do not use for animals with impaired liver and kidney function
